Meet Shel, a mother of three living in Pennsylvania. Shel grew up playing with building toys, and now as a mother, she is excited to introduce the world of building to her children. Follow along on her play-filled journey as she gets her kids involved in the world of building toys.
Introduction
I have quite the extensive building resume, having overseen the construction of several multi-million dollar mansions, a hair salon, an art gallery, a restaurant and a school. It’s impressive, I know. Many an architect would kill for such a breadth of experience. Fortunately, there is no price on my head because of my building prowess – it seems that erecting cities out of interlocking blocks is not on the in-demand list for today’s construction professionals.
My obsession with building mini-worlds ended when I was a teen; though I did go on to build something even grander than the Land of Interlocking Blocks – a family. My children, two boys and a girl, are 9, 6 and 4, and I am proud to say that they all harbor some level of fascination with building. Maybe that’s why I am so excited to introduce them to the world of building toys outside of interlocking blocks. Don’t get me wrong; there will always be a soft spot in my heart for those original building materials. It’s just that today’s building toy market is so much fun!
I am trying out Magnetix Jr. with my 6-year-old son and my 4-year-old daughter, and I want to share my experience with other parents (and former architects) who are interested in learning more about the latest innovations in the world of building toys and how building toys enhance their children’s learning.
